PhD PROJECT

Creative Clusters, Co-evolution and Critical Events: the Film and TV Clusters in Seoul and Berlin Compared

The motivation of this research is to improve the understanding of the creative industry from an evolutionary economic perspective, by investigating the film and TV industry in Korea and Germany.

This research project has four main aims: First, to explore whether the notions of evolutionary economic geography can contribute to analyzing and explaining the spatial dynamics of creative industries, which has not been done yet in a systematic way. Secondly, the co-evolution of the film and TV industry in both countries will be examined from the institutional context. Thirdly, after reviewing and mapping the current situation of the film and TV industry in Korea and Germany, the effects of some critical events on the film and TV industry will be analyzed. Finally, with the help of this cross-national comparative study, policy recommendations will be provided for the sustainable development of creative clusters.
